Kurs Interface and Interaction Design

Designing Effective Interfaces and Interaction Models for Usability, and User Experience
Ambika Shahu

Ambika Shahu

Objectives: The course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of methodological knowledge to analyze, design, and evaluate interactive systems. Through practical exercises and case studies, the course explores basic knowledge of human factors, prototyping tools and user testing, preparing students to design user-centered interfaces. The curriculum emphasizes prototyping and usability evaluation techniques, enabling students to assess and refine their designs iteratively.

Content: This course takes an interdisciplinary approach to the human-centered design process. It draws on knowledge from fields such as computer science, human factors, ergonomics, and psychology.

· Fundamental human factors concepts, including levels of control, stages of actions, and affordances

Overview of input and output devices and key interaction concepts

· Design principles, such as color theory, shapes, and visual hierarchy

· User-centered design process, from research to implementation

· Ideation and prototyping across different development stages, including sketching, wireframes, video, software, and hardware prototyping

· Evaluation methods at various design phases, including interviews, surveys, lab experiments, and field testing

Learning outcomes: Students will gain a structured understanding of the human-centered design process, hands-on experience with prototyping tools, and knowledge about methods for evaluating interfaces. Students will be equipped to design, implement, and evaluate interactive systems, considering emerging technologies and future trends in interface design.
